The Sacrament of First Eucharist (also known as First Communion) is an important tradition for Catholic families and individuals. Holy Communion is the third of seven sacraments received. It occurs only after receiving Baptism, and once the person has reached the age of reason (usually, around the second grade). First confession (the Sacrament of First Penance) must precede the reception of the Eucharist.
Preparation for the sacraments is a special time in your child’s life, as well as the life of your family and our faith community. We are so grateful for you and your desire to keep the Catholic faith alive through the teachings of Jesus and participation in the Sacraments. Students must actively participate in Faith Formation or Catholic School one year prior to beginning Sacramental Prep. All First Eucharist students and parents must attend the following events: view calendar. Students who are not attending a Catholic school also need to attend our Faith Formation classes.
Practice and mass Selection
Those participating in our Sacramental Prep program for First Eucharist have the option to choose the practice time and Mass celebration that is most convenient and beneficial for their family. Use the following form to make your selections. If you need to change a your selection or have a question, please contact Julie Sheridan at email@example.com.
Registration & baptismal Certificate
Registration for Sacramental Preparation for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist are combined as it is a complementary, year long process. If you have already registered your child for First Reconciliation, it is not necessary to re-register for First Eucharist. If you have a unique situation where you only need to register for one of these Sacraments, please contact us at the parish office.
Your child’s baptismal certificate must be on file at Holy Cross prior to receiving the Sacrament. If your child was baptized at a church other than Holy Cross and you have not previously provided it to Holy Cross, please submit it as soon as possible. &
