“Sin is before all else an offense against God, a rupture of communion with him. At the same time it damages communion with the Church. For this reason conversion entails both God's forgiveness and reconciliation with the Church, which are expressed and accomplished liturgically by the sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation.” (CCC 1440)
Preparation for the Sacrament of First Penance usually takes place during a child’s second grade year. Preparation for First Penance is combined with preparation for the Sacrament of First Eucharist as a complementary year-long process. Students must actively participate in Faith Formation or Catholic School one year prior to beginning Sacramental Prep. All First Reconciliation students and parents/guardians must attend the following events as indicated. Students who are not attending a Catholic school also need to attend our Faith Formation classes on Thursday or Friday (day is determined by the school attending).
Registration for 2018-2019 First Penance/First Eucharist Direct Preparation is now closed. If you have questions about registration or sacramental prep, please contact Julie Sheridan.
