Obituary
We learn lessons from all who we meet, Liam will forever be one of our greatest teachers. He taught us how to love life, and to find the good in everything and everyone. As a role model, Liam showed us how to treasure each new day, how to persevere, and how to treat everyone you meet with kindness.
Liam's positive outlook on life, along with his Faith, carried him through many tough days and served as a means to guide others on how to manage difficult moments. Through his numerous surgeries and medical procedures, he demonstrated how to be brave and to remain positive during challenging moments.
Liam had many passions in his life, and he always enjoyed rooting for his favorite teams. Watching Syracuse play basketball, either at the Dome or at home with his dad was always a highlight in Liam's life. When Syracuse was not playing, Liam cheered on his other favorite sports teams, the Boston Celtics, the Minnesota Vikings and the New York Yankees. But far and away, Liam's all-time favorite team was Team Zoghby! His love for his mom and dad, Eileen and Jalal was unconditional, and his love for his siblings, Miriam, Sophia and Nolan was on display every day of his life.
When it came to music, Liam loved being the "house DJ during family gatherings and parties" where he played all types of music. When meeting someone new, Liam would ask them their birthday so he could look up the song that was popular on the day they were born. He had a wide range of musical tastes and so enjoyed listening to great songs with good friends.
While being a sports and music enthusiast occupied large amounts of Liam's time, what gave him the greatest joy in life was spending time with friends and family. Whether it was a social event he was attending or a gathering of family and friends at home, Liam loved people. He was quite the conversationalist, never short on words. His first question of the day, every day, was "How did you sleep last night?", ensuring that your day would be a good one. Liam had a unique and very loving way of bringing people together, creating laughter and much joy with all who were in his company.
After graduating from Jamesville-DeWitt High School, Liam attended Syracuse University through the InclusiveU program and was incredibly proud to be a part of his beloved Syracuse Orange, where he also thrived in his role as a manager for the Men's Basketball Team.
Liam shared a special bond with his grandparents, George and Samia Zoghby (Lebanon) and Eileen Walsh (Jamesville, NY). He loved his family - and treasured his time spent with his many aunts, uncles, cousins, as well as numerous friends and neighbors.
A full Church Mass will be offered in Liam's Honor on Friday, January 19th, 11:00 am at Holy Cross Church, 4112 E Genesee St., Dewitt, NY with a Celebration of Life to follow at Drumlin's Country, at 1 pm, 800 Nottingham Rd., Syracuse, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to David's Refuge.
Liam's greatest gift to all of us was showing us how to downplay the negative and to focus on all that is good. Thank you Liam, for shining your light on us - you will forever be here with us!
