Easter Triduum

Learn about our events during Holy Week

HOLY THURSDAY

Mass of the Lord’s Supper - 7:00 PM

Adoration in the Chapel - until 10:00 PM

At the Last Supper, on the night he was betrayed, our Savior instituted the Eucharistic Sacrifice of his body and blood. Join us on Holy Thursday for Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7 PM. In this unique liturgy we begin the Easter Triduum. We join Christ at the table for the Last Supper and follow him out to the “garden.” Following Mass, quiet Adoration will be available in the chapel until 10 PM.

I give you a new commandment, says the Lord: love one another as I have loved you.

GOOD FRIDAY

Morning Prayer - 7:45 AM

Since Mass is not celebrated until the Easter Vigil, we’re offering Morning Prayer during our usual daily Mass time on Friday and Saturday mornings. Join us at 7:45 AM on Friday and at 9:00 AM on Saturday for Morning Prayer.

Passion of the Lord - 2:30 PM

According to the Church’s ancient tradition, Mass is not celebrated on Good Friday. Instead we have a celebration of the Lord’s Passion consisting of three parts: Liturgy of the Word, where we enter into the story of Christ’s journey to Calvary, Adoration of the Cross, where we venerate the cross as the means by which God sacrifices His only Son that we may have life in His Kingdom, and Holy Communion. Join us on Good Friday at 2:30 PM as we enter into this ancient celebration of the Passion of the Lord.

Stations of the Cross - 7:00 PM

The Stations of the Cross began as the practice of pious pilgrims to Jerusalem who would retrace the final journey of Jesus Christ to Calvary. Please join us on Good Friday at 7:00 PM as we travel through the stations and identify with Jesus’s crucifixion and death.

HOLY SATURDAY

Morning Prayer

9:00 AM

Since Mass is not celebrated until the Easter Vigil, we’re offering Morning Prayer during our usual daily Mass times on Friday and Saturday mornings. Join us at 7:45 AM on Friday and at 9:00 AM on Saturday for Morning Prayer.

Easter Food Blessing

12:00 PM

Come and have your Easter food blessed on Holy Saturday at 12 PM. We invite you and your family to participate in this special tradition. Bring a basket of your Easter provisions to the church sanctuary to be blessed before brining it back home to share at your Easter dining table.

Easter Vigil Mass

8:00 PM

The Easter Vigil on Saturday evening begins at 8:00 PM. The vigil is arranged in four parts:  after a service of light (a large fire is prepared to be blessed and to light the paschal candle) and the Easter Proclamation, the Church meditates on all the wonderful things God has done for his people from the beginning; this is the Liturgy of the Word. As the day of resurrection approaches, new members of the Church are reborn in Baptism, and we renew our baptismal promises. Then the whole Church is called to the table the Lord prepared for his people through his Death and Resurrection; this is the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

EASTER SUNDAY

Masses on Easter Sunday will be at 7:30 AM, 10:30 AM, and 5:00 PM. All are warmly welcome to celebrate Easter at Holy Cross! Easter is the day that fills us with the confidence that the Lord has conquered both sin and death and in His love for us has opened heaven. It tells us that death is not the end; it encourages us to live in confidence that nothing in this world is ever more powerful than the Risen Lord, who loves us and calls us to be His friends. We hope you and your family will join us! He is risen!
