Parish Picnic 2019

Thank you to everyone that came out to our Parish Picnic on Sunday afternoon, June 9th. It was a gorgeous day to enjoy a full spread of cheeseburgers, hot dogs, chili dogs, salads and sweet treats. We could not have done it without our amazing volunteer servers and cooks. Thank you!

We kicked off the celebration with a few year end awards to some of our faithful parishioners and families. Our dedicated volunteers are the heart and soul of our youth and family programs, and we are so appreciative of them. We also presented the Kurgan Cup to the winning household of the year. Go Lions! Our Head of House representatives from our Pastoral Council joined us to accept the trophy. Their presence and fun-loving support of our parish family is such a blessing. (You can learn more about our Pastoral Council and get in touch with them here.)

Finally we awarded our Parish Picnic Drawing Contest Winner with the Golden Squirt Gun and the privilege of being first to send Fr. Matt to the dunk tank. But with Fr. Matt nowhere to be found (he was helping with a Confirmation), our summer seminarian Benjamin Schrantz stepped in as tribute. I’m not sure if this is what he had in mind by getting his feet wet with parish activities. We’re so excited to have Ben with us for these next two months and welcome him into our community.

Fr. Matt did finally show and gave Ben some relief from the watery depths. Director of Faith Formation and Youth Ministry, Steve Nepil, and Pastoral Council chair, Brook Gleasman, also braved the tank. These guys weren’t the only ones to get drenched though. Kids of all ages dueled it out in a epic water battle complete with squirt guns, water blasters, super soakers, water balloons, hoses, and pools. While others enjoyed face painting and dancing to the DJ’s tunes. Thanks for joining us! We hope you have a spectacular summer!
