Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Readings
Reflection
We are now quickly approaching the end of Ordinary Time and thus the end of our Liturgical year. It is important as we approach this transition to look back over our year and evaluate where we were at its beginning versus where we find ourselves today.
Have we simply accumulated more information about Christ through Sacred Scripture? Has our understanding of what we believe as Catholic Christians deepened? Has our life changed for the better due to our relationship with Christ and His Church? Has what we have done this past year caused our faith life to grown, stay stagnant or diminish in some aspect? What is the condition of our prayer life?
While it is normal to have our faith life ebb and flow like the tide, ultimately God calls us through our Baptism to allow our faith life to increase. We can only experience this type of growth by seeing Christ active around us and within us. As we experience each Liturgical Year, it reminds us of the birth, life, death and resurrection of Christ. It is in this cycle of life that we are called to see Christ as active within us as Teacher, Healer and ultimately Savior.
Let us look back on this year and pray about where we were and where we are now. Let us ask Jesus to help up prepare for the new Liturgical Year with a determination to grow as Christ desires.
Peace,
