Obituary

Joan E. Garbinski, 83, of DeWitt, passed away Wednesday morning, July 27, 2022.

Born in Arnold, PA she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Jeannette Korowicki. She was a graduate of Arnold High School, Class of 1956 and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. Joan and Jack, her husband of 61 years, started their life together in Arnold, PA as high school sweethearts and moved to the Syracuse area in 1965. Joan was a Registered Nurse for several medical settings in the area, finishing her career as head nurse and office manager at Dr. Birnbaum, Kaplan, Bagatell Family Practice.

Joan was a high school cheerleader, class officer, a member of women's alter rosery society and long time member of the choir at Holy Cross Church.

In retirement, she enjoyed traveling with Jack and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her parents and her sister, Rosalind Tate.

Surviving is her husband, Jack; children, Kim (Mark) Bono; Kristin (Tim) Vivian and John (Kelly) Garbinski; grandchildren, Andrew (Kristen), Alex, Patrick (Jordyn), Troy, Dana, Catie, Christian, Donald, Margaret and Will; one great grandchild, Carter; sisters, Arlene (Charles) Szoch and Adele (Vince) Perdeus; brother-in-law, John Tate; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Sunday, July 31, 2022 from 2 to 5 pm at Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel 7191 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville. A Mass of Christian burial will be Monday at 10:30 am at Holy Cross Church. Entombment will be made at St, Mary’s Cemetery in DeWitt.
