Obituary
Joanne M. (Nelson) Piston, 62, of East Syracuse, passed away peacefully at Francis House. She was born in Livermore, CA, graduated from Escalon High School and LeMoyne College. Joanne was a self-employed bookkeeper, working for many small businesses. Joanne was also a good friend to her clients.
She was a communicant of Holy Cross Church in DeWitt. She formerly was an active member of Pitcher Hill Community Church in North Syracuse and volunteered at St. Mary’s and St. Matthew’s Churches. She was a member of the local HOG group where she served as treasurer.
She is survived by her husband, Mike; children, Katy Flippin (Gabe), Beth Morse (Nick) and Nathan Piston (Stephanie Eastman); brothers, George Pickering (Nora New) and Steve Brown; grandchildren, Leah Flippin, Kaiden Flippin, Penelope Morse; and extended family.
Calling hours will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, December 20 at R.H. Schepp & Son Minoa Chapel, 6530 Schepps Corners Rd., Minoa. The funeral Mass will be 10:00 am on Wednesday, December 21 at Holy Cross Church,4112 E. Genesee St., DeWitt. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in DeWitt.
