Obituary

Lynne McCormick, 84 of Syracuse passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 5, 2022. Born in Syracuse to Arnold and Marion Dettor, she graduated from Nottingham High School and Skidmore College. She began her career as an executive assistant at Agway after the birth of her daughter Traci. In 1969, Lynne took a vacation to Old Forge and completely fell in love with life in the Adirondacks. She moved her family to Old Forge and spent nearly 50 years in the region. She worked as a paralegal in a local law office. She then obtained a bachelor's degree in Political Science from SUNY Utica and her career eventually led to her being elected the  Town Justice of the Town of Webb.  An avid reader, Lynne enjoyed knitting and crocheting Afghans as gifts for those she loved.  She took great pride in her patriotism and supported the service men and women with her gifts of time and appreciation. She was involved in many animal rescue organizations and enjoyed supporting various charities throughout her life.

Lynne is predeceased by her parents, siblings Judy Farranto, and Eddy Dettor and her great-granddaughter Penelope Reynolds. She is survived by her daughter Traci, her grandchildren Eric (Jessica) Reynolds, Julia Levensailor and Katherine Kavanagh; great-grandchildren Liam and Jennifer Reynolds and Corbin and Savannah Sandoval.  Who will carry on her legacy of generosity and selflessness.

Calling Horus will be held on Friday, November 11, 2022 from 4-7 pm at Burns-Garfield Funeral Home 3175 East Genesee St. Syracuse. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Saturday, November 12 at Holy Cross Church, Dewitt. Entombment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery Dewitt. Donations in her memory can be made to the SPCA or St Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
