Obituary

Patricia H. Wengert, 90, of Syracuse, passed away at her home Friday afternoon, September 9, 2022 with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Brookline, MA, on August 1, 1932. She was the daughter of the late John and Margaret Hickey. She was a graduate of Regis College and earned her masters degree in education from Harvard University.

Patricia met the love of her life, Robert E. Wengert, on a blind date and spent the next 60 plus years as a devoted, grateful, and loving wife.

Throughout her life she spent time teaching and selling real estate. Her family was her primary focus raising her six children to embrace life, always do their best and love God.

She enjoyed reading, keeping up with the news, golfing, playing bridge, walking and traveling. She was grounded by her strong faith in God and love of her family and friends.

Patricia was predeceased by her husband, Robert, in 2019.

Surviving are her children, Chris (Andy) Young, Brian (Margie) Wengert, Margaret (Tim) Miles, Deidre (Tony) Prince, John (Marjorie) Wengert and Elyzabeth Wengert; grandchildren, Jessica (Travis), Andrew (Siobhan), Lottie (John), Robert (Kelsey), Sarah, Laura, Patrick, Sean, Katie, Anthony, Nick, Rebecca, Peter, Meghan and Shane; great-grandchildren, Louisa, Lucas, Cedar and one on the way; brother, John Hickey; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Thursday, September 15 from 4 to 7pm at the Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, September 16 at 10am at Holy Cross Church, 4112 E. Genesee St., DeWitt. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt.

Being a three-time survivor of cancer, contributions in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Foundation and Hospice of CNY. The family is so grateful for the loving care her aides and physicians provided over the years.
