Obituary
Irene M. Lynch Van Ness, 96, of Jamesville, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2023 at her home.
Born in Syracuse, she was the assistant manager at Cole’s Bookstore in DeWitt for many years. She was a parishioner of Holy Cross Church in DeWitt. Irene’s main purpose in life was to be a mother and grandmother.
She is survived by seven children, Nancy Chrysler, Christine Van Ness, Rosie Wilson, James (Donna) Tracy, Barbara Moore, Marianne Chapin and Peggy (Steve) Turynowicz; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her three husbands, Roy Nicholas, Gifford Tracy and Robert Van Ness; one daughter, Carolyn Brokhoff; and six siblings.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 23 at 10 am at Holy Cross Church, DeWitt. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5-7 pm at Fairchild & Meech DeWitt Chapel, 3690 Erie Blvd East, DeWitt.
