Obituary

Marie Antoinette (Menona) Damico, 73, of Fayetteville, passed away Friday, August 4, 2023, at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Syracuse to the late Michael and Marie (Galluzzo) Menona, Marie taught kindergarten and third grade; she began her teaching career at St. Vincent de Paul Elementary, moving then to St. Rose of Lima, St. Matthews, and later Holy Cross Elementary before retiring after many dedicated years. Marie was well known throughout the theater community as well; she volunteered at the Salt City Playhouse and worked as head usher coordinator for The Talent Co. for 20 years.

She was utterly devoted to her two daughters and served as a true model for what a kind, loving, caring mother should be. Nothing made her happier than spending time with her family, especially her four grandsons, whom she absolutely adored. She is irreplaceable but will live forever in our hearts.

Marie is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Donald A. Damico; two daughters, Gina M. (William Sullivan) Damico, and Lisa A. (John) Spatola; four grandsons, Ryan, Luca, Noah, and Enzo; a sister, Linda Pendergast; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral Mass in celebration of Marie’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. in Holy Cross Church, 4112 E. Genesee Street, Dewitt. Entombment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum, Dewitt. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME 3401 Vickery Rd. (Corner of Buckley Rd.) N. Syracuse, NY 13212.

Contributions in Marie’s name may be made in honor of Laurie Mezzalingua to the St. Agatha Foundation, 165 Township Line Road, Suite 1200 Jenkintown, PA 19046.
