Obituary

Sandra was born in Syracuse, New York.  She attended the Convent School and graduated from Jamesville-DeWitt High School in 1964.  She then attended Le Moyne College where she met her future and husband for life, Thomas “Kevin” Fahey.  Both Sandra and Kevin graduated from Le Moyne in 1968, and were married shortly after graduating.

Sandra was a devoted mother and wife and dedicated her life to raising her family.  She was loved and cherished by her husband, children and grandchildren.

Sandra also enjoyed spending winters in the South Florida sunshine, swimming daily, and walking in the neighborhood. She loved nothing more than a great outfit and an early meal at one of her many favorite spots such as Max’s Grille and the “little Italian restaurant” around the corner, followed by laughs and champagne on her patio with her husband, kids and grandkids.  All of these moments were meaningful because of family which was everything to her.  The feisty redhead ran a tight ship and you knew better than to question her. Sandra’s greatest accomplishment and biggest priority was taking care of her husband, children, and grandkids which was the greatest gift she gave to them.

Sandra was predeceased by her parents, Dr. George Matthew Raus and Mary Margaret Raus.  She is survived by her husband of fifty five years, Thomas Kevin, her children Lisa of East Syracuse, Christina (Robert Nigolian) of Syracuse and Kevin (Christine) of Jamesville, as well as her two most beloved, her grandchildren William and Nolan Fahey and a brother George M. Raus (Syracuse).

The family will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Church.  The family will greet guests at the church at 9:30 am.  There will be no calling hours.

The family would like to extend thanks and gratitude to the nurses and supporting staff at Crouse Hospital, 4 South, for their compassionate care and excellent medical assistance.  To honor the nursing staff at Crouse Hospital, the family asks that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Crouse Hospital Nurses Endowed Fund. https://www.crouse.org/nursing/alumni/join/ )
