Peter Badera (1944-2024) was a loving husband and father who always put his family first. Born to Peter and Mary Badera in Johnson City, NY, Peter joined the US Air Force in 1963 as a Russian language specialist. He was awarded an Air Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters. Upon leaving the Air Force, and after graduating from SUNY Binghamton, he attended Syracuse University Law School (grad 1973). In July of 1968, Peter married Antoinette (Toni) Gaeds. They later moved to Syracuse where Peter practiced law until his passing.
Peter and Toni were members of St Mary's Church in Jamesville and then Holy Cross Church in DeWitt. Peter served as a volunteer firefighter for the Jamesville Fire Department, then as their legal counsel. Always interested in politics, Peter was the chairman of the Lafayette Republican Committee for many years. He enjoyed golfing in the Jamesville Men's Golf League, reading, fishing, hunting, and most especially tending his bountiful garden. Peter was an enthusiastic fan of the Syracuse Orange, passionately coaching from his recliner.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 56 years, two beautiful daughters- Stephanie (Chris) Mominey & Allison (Joseph Sr.) Decker, 10 grandchildren- Hannah, Victor, Sarah & Michael Mominey, and Lily, Joseph Jr., Susanna, Wyatt, Rowan & Bodhi Decker, two dear brothers- Michael (Rosie) Badera and Joseph Badera and several nieces and nephews.
