Obituary
Paul W. Dunn of Syracuse, NY, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2022, at St. Joseph’s Hospital. He was born in Watertown, SD, to the late Daniel J. and Cecilia M. (Schilling) Dunn. Paul attended St. Thomas University in St. Paul, MN, and graduate school at Syracuse University. He was an employee at Fehlman Brothers Automotive for over 35 years. Paul was a longtime member of the choir at Holy Cross Church, was an avid cyclist, and was a prolific reader, especially of all things Irish. He served as President of the Syracuse James Joyce Club for many years where many enjoyed his spirited readings of passages of Ulysses during annual Bloomsday Celebrations. He also chauffeured his children to countless Irish Dance competitions along the East Coast, to Canada, and to Ireland.
Paul is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary Beth; his children, Nora (Joel Miller) of Baltimore, MD, Will (Patrick Holmes) of Binghamton, NY, Hugh of Pittsburgh, PA and Eileen (Johann Vigelius) of Boston, MA. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Katherine Seidow; and is survived by his brother, T. Michael (Donna) Dunn of Kellogg, ID; and his sister, Louise Swanson of Lubbock TX.
Calling hours will be Sunday, June 19, from 5-8 PM at Fairchild & Meech DeWitt Chapel, 3690 Erie Blvd East, DeWitt. Funeral Mass will be Monday, June 20 at 10 AM at Holy Cross Church, 4112 East Genesee Street, DeWitt. Private interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
