Obituary
Mary Louise Reed (maiden name Williams), age 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, in Syracuse, NY. She grew up in Kansas City, MO, and was a long-time resident of Chicago, IL.
She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Mansfield D. Reed. She is survived by her son, Phillip Reed (Ruth); her daughter, Kira Reed; and her grandchildren, Rayna and Declan Reed.
Mary Louise was a retired Chicago public school teacher for grades K-8. She held two Master's degrees and was passionate about education providing opportunities for young people.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and was especially happy sharing her love of learning with her grandchildren to “keep her mind sharp”.
She shared her Catholic faith with her family and was looking forward to her grandson’s confirmation. Her strength and resilience will be missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 20 at 10 AM at Holy Cross Church, DeWitt, NY, followed by entombment in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt.
