Obituary

Christine Woodcock Dettor, age 53, born October 29, 1970, passed away on June 23, 2024, at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, NY, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Christine grew up in and around the beautiful lakes of Central New York, where her curiosity, compassionate spirit, affinity for hot pink nail polish, and unique sense of humor blossomed.

Christine was known for her sharp wit, kindness, and captivating presence. Christine’s 28 years as an attorney were spent at Bousquet Holstein PLLC, where she served as a compassionate and skilled practitioner and leader in the firm’s estates, trusts, and elder law practice group, a valued member of the firm’s Board of Managers, and a trusted colleague, mentor, and friend.

Her legal expertise and intellectual prowess extended beyond her professional career, as she passionately supported numerous local non-profit organizations (the Jamesville-Dewitt School District Board of Education, Board of Directors for the Loretto Management Corporation, Chair of the Central New York Community Foundation Committee and Professional Advisor Council, Executive Committee of the Trusts and Estates Section of the New York Bar Association, Onondaga Historical Association, Board of Trustees for Manlius Pebble Hill School).

Christine is survived by her partner in life and husband, Louis Dettor. She was the most loving and hilarious mother to Julia, Andrew, and Alexandra. She maintained that raising her children was her greatest achievement.

Christine drew her strength from her boisterous, large, and loving family. She was predeceased by her father, Dr. Leslie D. Woodcock Sr. (oh boy!), whose legacy of service and dedication she honored throughout her life. She is survived by her mother, Patricia Delmonico Woodcock; and siblings, Dr. Leslie Jr. (Kristen) of Canastota, Jonathan (Lori) of Skaneateles, Anne (Dr. Elan) Salzhauer of Skaneateles, and Dr. Catherine (Chad) Bailey of Fayetteville. Christine was also cherished by her nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of friends and colleagues.

Christine’s family would like to thank all of the doctors and medical professionals who took care of her for the last 3 years, especially Dr. Anita Pudusseri and the HOA team, Dr. Caroline Keib, Dr. William Berkery, and the Crouse Hospital ICU staff, who provided her and her family with exceptional care in the last few days of her life. Your dedication to your craft is unwavering and appreciated beyond words.

Calling hours in celebration of Christine’s life will be held from 10 am to 12 pm at Holy Cross Church in DeWitt, with mass immediately following at noon, on Friday, June 28.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Loretto Foundation, the Central New York Community Foundation, or the Onondaga Historical Association.

Christine will be deeply missed for her intelligence, humor, and unwavering kindness. Her impact on the legal community and beyond leaves a lasting legacy of compassion and dedication. Christine, we love you to the moon and back.
