Obituary
Our beloved, and brave Emily Abbey-Burton was called home on December 11, 2023, at the age of 31. Emily's spirit burned brightly. She faced challenges with unwavering strength, heart, and often her own unique brand of humor.
Emmy lived fully, and richly, and ALWAYS led with LOVE, and continues to inspire others to do the same. Emily celebrated her graduation from The Center For Discovery in May of 2014. Emily resided in Poland, NY where she was cared for and loved by many care providers through Upstate Caring Partners. Emily enjoyed and shared many memories with the residences that she lived with. Em found joy in being in the presence of her family and friends. She cherished summers on the St. Lawrence River. Emily was always happy for any opportunity to be in, or on the water. Always up for an adventure. Always at the center of every party.
She cared for her family deeply and shared with them special holiday traditions. Emily touched the heart of everyone that she met.
Emmy is survived by her devoted parents, and champion advocates Margaret Burton, and Craig Burton. Her doting siblings, Molly Sollars - sister, Samantha Burton - sister, Paige Burton - sister, Terry Sollars - Brother-in-law, Her loving niece, Avery Sollars, nephew, Everett Sollars, and grandparents, Sandy Burton, and Phyllis Burton, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is preceded by her grandparents, Donald Oswald, and Patricia Oswald.
Emily remains a blessing, and a light in the lives of all who knew her. A Celebration of Life Mass will take place at Holy Cross Church, 4112 E Genesee St. Dewitt, NY 13214 at 10 am December 15th, 2023. An open house will be held at The Burton Residence after the Mass.
