Obituary
Margaret H. Loftus, 93, Minoa former longtime resident of Cazenovia passed away peacefully after a brief illness surrounded by her family. A Syracuse native, Peg graduated from Most Holy Rosary High School, received her bachelors degree from LeMoyne College and her masters degree from Syracuse University. She taught in the North Syracuse School District for 15 years.
She was a communicant of Holy Cross Church in DeWitt. She was a voracious reader, quilter, and classic movie fan. She enjoyed traveling to visit family. Peg was a friend to many. She most loved spending time with her family, especially her three grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Edward P. Loftus; her parents, Bertram and Marie Hansen; and her son-in-law, Douglas Dick. She is survived by her children, Edward F. (Elizabeth) and grandson, Edward J. Loftus; Moira C. Dick and Michelle M. Loftus all of Syracuse, Brian P. (Susy) of Elgin, Texas, and Michael E. (Vanessa) and grandson, Gabriel and granddaughter, Jillian of Henrietta, NY; brothers-in-law, Michael X. (Jean) Loftus of Syracuse and J. David (Mary Ann) Loftus of Fayetteville, and many nieces, nephews and extended family in Germany.
A calling hour will be from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at Holy Cross Church, 4112 E. Genesee St., DeWitt. The funeral Mass will follow the calling hour at 11:00 am. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery in Syracuse at a later date.
